ROTTNEST 2014

Quintessential views and glimpses of Rottnest reflect the Western Australian love of our very own holiday island - the ochre walls of Thomson Bay glowing with the early morning sunrise, cool shadows of the pines in the heat of the day, sparkling sandy beaches edging stunning aqua and indigo waters, brightly coloured umbrellas in the Basin, and the familiar Bathurst Lighthouse landmark.

When painting at Rottnest, I typically get up an hour before dawn, to be ready in situ when the sun breaks over the mainland. Sometimes I take a picnic and paint in the one spot for the whole day, or move (via the Bakery??!!?) to different locations as the sun and shadows change, or work early in the morning and continue in the late afternoon after a sensible approach to an enjoyable lunch and siesta!.........much depends upon the weather.
